12 years after one of the most infamous nights in World Cup history, Ghana and Uruguay will battle it out in the final group game of Group H with the winner set to go through into the knockout rounds alongside Portugal.

Portugal are sitting comfortably at the top of the group here and are already through after beating Ghana and Uruguay.

Now, however, with an inferior goals difference for Uruguay to deal with after losing 2-0 to Portugal, they will need Bruno Fernandes and co. to do them a favour and get a few goals against South Korea, because if South Korea win, they could head through ahead of everyone else.

These two did famously meet back in 2010 in South Africa in what is remembered for the brutal loss Ghana had to deal with.

Ghana and Uruguay were level for most of the game and in the 120th minute of the match, before Luis Suarez punched the ball off the goalline to prevent Ghana from scoring.

It was clearly going to be a goal, so Suarez was sent off, but the game had seconds left and the subsequent penalty for the Black Stars had to be converted.

However, the penalty was missed, and worse yet, Uruguay went on to win the game on penalties and advanced through to the semi-finals.

Suarez is still in the lineup here, and with a new-looking Uruguay team with players like Federico Valverde and Darwin Nunez, the game could be very different.

On the other hand, Uruguay are yet to actually score a goal at this World Cup with such players and in truth, they haven’t looked like doing so just yet either.

Ghana, on the other hand, have looked promising. A narrow loss to Portugal was met with a narrow comeback win over South Korea after previously going 2-0 up to eventually win 3-2.

Mohammed Salisu scored against South Korea, before Mohammed Kudus got two of his own to win the game. It does also mean the Black Stars are the highest-scoring team in Group H.

With the game set to be a very close one, it could be a fixture that is settled by a narrow margin from players like Nunez, Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

Forebet predicts a win for Uruguay and for the game to see under 2.5 goals, meaning the two-time World Cup winners will head through into the round of 16, as Ghana crash out.
