Ghana will go into the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations with a clear objective of winning the trophy, according to Ghana Football Association President Kurt Okraku.
Speaking after the final draw held on Thursday in Rabat, Okraku said the time has come for the Black Queens to finally clinch the continental title, following their third-place finish at the 2025 edition, which was also hosted in Morocco.
The draw placed Ghana in a competitive group alongside Cameroon, Cape Verde, and Mali, with the tournament scheduled to kick off in March.
Okraku, who also serves as a Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), was present at the draw and expressed confidence in the team’s ability to challenge any opponent on the continent.
“The ambition of the nation is to win the WAFCON trophy, and I believe we are not far away from achieving that,” he said.
“On the back of Ghana finishing third at the last WAFCON, we should be ready to face any opponent. If you want to become champions, you must be prepared to play against any team on the African continent.”
Ghana have previously finished runners-up at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on three occasions in 1998, 2002, and 2006 and will be aiming to go one step further this time.
The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations will run from March 17 to April 3, with the Black Queens based in Fes for the group stage.
