Ghana goalkeeper, Richard Ofori has won the 2022 MTN8 against AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday evening.

The Buccaneers won the MTN8 for the 11th time (and a second in the past three editions of the tournament) thanks to a first-half strike from Monnapule Saleng, while Usuthu’s wait to end a long silverware drought goes on, with their last major triumph being the Coca-Cola Cup way back in 1992.

Ofori, who has the been first-choice goalie captained the side to lift the trophy.

Te experienced shot-stopper enjoyed the entire duration of the game with a brilliant output in the sticks of Orlando Pirates while his compatriot Kwame Peprah failed to make the match-day squad list.

The former Wa All Stars goalkeeper has been named in Ghana’s provisional squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ofori will be hoping to make the final 26-man list for the Mundial that has been scheduled to kick off from November 20 to December 18.
