In the aftermath of Ghana’s underwhelming performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has taken decisive action by dissolving the entire technical team of the senior national team, the Black Stars.

The move comes in the wake of a disappointing group stage exit, with Ghana failing to secure the needed victory against Mozambique and ultimately finishing third in Group B with two points.

The dissolved technical team includes head coach Chris Hughton, his two assistants George Boateng and Didi Dramani, goalkeepers’ coach Richard Kingston, and other members. The decision was prompted by the consecutive setbacks faced by the Black Stars, losing 2-1 to Cape Verde and drawing 2-2 against Egypt before the heartbreaking 2-2 draw against Mozambique in the final group game.

A statement from the GFA announced the immediate relief of Chris Hughton from his duties as head coach.

The GFA expressed its commitment to providing a roadmap for the future direction of the Black Stars in the coming days.
