The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will provide five additional buses to deserving clubs after President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku outlined further progress under the association’s Bus Strategy at the 32nd Congress.

Speaking at the GFA Congress on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, Simeon-Okraku said the initiative had already delivered major transport support to clubs and football administration across Ghana.

The latest vehicles will be awarded through the GFA’s enhanced Merit Awards Programme. They are intended to recognise clubs which produced excellent results and distinguished themselves during the 2024/25 season.

“As part of our enhanced Merit Awards Programme, the Football Association will today distribute five additional buses to deserving clubs in recognition of excellence and outstanding performances during the 2024/2025 season.” he announced.

The planned distribution forms part of a wider transport programme implemented by the GFA over recent years. According to Simeon-Okraku, the association has already supplied 13 buses to clubs competing in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) and Division One League (DOL).

The strategy is designed to address transport difficulties affecting domestic football, with the buses giving beneficiary clubs more dependable and efficient options for their football activities.

“Over the past few years, the GFA has successfully implemented a comprehensive Bus Strategy, which has significantly enhanced transportation support across the game,” President Simeon-Okraku said.

The association’s transport investment has not been limited to clubs. It has also been used to improve the operational capacity of Regional Football Associations and strengthen administrative work at both regional and national level.

Through the FIFA Forward Programme, the GFA presented five vehicles to the Greater Accra and Northern Regional Football Associations. The same support also covered key operational departments within the association.

The vehicles are expected to improve mobility and administrative efficiency while supporting football development and operations across the country. The intervention is part of the GFA’s broader efforts to strengthen the structures that underpin the domestic game.

Simeon-Okraku told Congress that the Bus Strategy had therefore delivered support in several areas of football administration, from clubs competing in the WPL and DOL to regional associations and GFA departments.

The additional five buses announced at the meeting will extend that support to more clubs, with eligibility linked to performances during the 2024/25 campaign and the criteria of the enhanced Merit Awards Programme.

The President’s announcement came as the GFA reviewed its work before Congress, highlighting the association’s continuing focus on transport as a key logistical issue for clubs and football bodies throughout Ghana.
