GFA, FIFA hold Women’s Football Strategy workshop in Accra

The Ghana Football Association, through its Technical Directorate, has completed a three-day stakeholder engagement workshop as part of the policy development process for a practical framework for the strategic advancement of Women’s football in Ghana.

The workshop, moderated by FIFA representative Thuba Sibanda and Head of Women’s Football Development for the GFA, Ama Brobey-Williams, brought together key stakeholders from the women’s football space, club owners, sponsors, administrators, coaches, referees and ex-players and provided them with an active platform to share knowledge and challenges in the female football space.

The Women’s Football Strategy document aligns with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) initiative, which launched its first ever strategy for Women’s football towards realising the full potential of the Women’s game.

Speaking at the workshop, Ama Brobey Williams called for clubs to play an active part in securing tailored growth strategies to take Women’s football in Ghana to the next level.

This will be a roadmap for raising the Women’s game through the metrics of competition, professionalisation and leadership, marketing and promotion, and the social impact of football.

The Women’s football strategy workshop is part of an elaborate process that the strategy must go through leading to its final approval for execution by the Executive Council of the Football Association.
