The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association has charged the already relegated Ghana Premier League side Real Tamale United with player impersonation.
This development occurred after it was reported that the Tamale-based club allegedly fielded unregistered players in their 1-8 loss to Dreams FC on Wednesday, June 12.
Before the game, registered players of the club are said to have boycotted the match, following unpaid bonuses.
“Real Tamale United has been charged with a breach of Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, following their Premier League game against Dreams FC,” an FA statement released.
“It is alleged that the club intentionally deceived match officials during the game by using unregistered players to impersonate officially registered players of their club, which constitutes misconduct that brings the name of the game into disrepute.”
Real Tamale United have played 33 games in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign and accumulated 31 points.
