Ghanaian defender Tariq Lamptey is optimistic that the Black Stars will make it to the 2026 World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The Brighton player’s comments come after Ghana recorded back-to-back wins in the qualifying campaign.
The four-time African champions came from behind to defeat Mali 2-1 before a dramatic 4-3 triumph against CAR on Monday.
The Black Stars currently occupy second position in Group I with 9 points after four games.
“I think we definitely believe in ourselves [to qualify for the World Cup]; we have the talent as we know,” he told 3sports.
“We have to focus on what the coach has to say to us. Take it game by game, work as hard as possible and hopefully the results will show.
“We worked hard in the week, the build-up to the last two games and we got the results we deserved so hopefully we can keep pushing and qualify.”
Tariq has so far played 8 games for Ghana, debuting against Brazil in 2022.
