Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association George Afriyie has pleaded not guilty to misconduct charges brought against him by the GFA Prosecutor.
Afriyie’s troubles began when he made comments during a Kessben TV interview, alleging match-fixing incidents involving Ashantigold and Inter Allies, which implied manipulation in the Ghana Premier League
The GFA took issue with these remarks, arguing they harmed the league’s reputation and invoked Section 11(2)(d) of the 2019 GFA Disciplinary Code, which prohibits conduct that brings the league into disrepute
“My comments were taken out of context, misinterpreted, and do not constitute improper conduct,” Afriyie stated, defending his remarks as a misrepresentation.
