Netherlands vs Scotland
International friendly match at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, Amerstdam
TV: Viaplay Sports 1, 7:45pm
Netherlands to win
The Netherlands and Scotland are both heading to Euro 2024 this summer with Ronald Koeman back in charge of the Dutch national side for a second stint. Optimism over how far he can take La Oranje at the tournament remains unclear but the former Barcelona boss oversaw a solid end to qualification.
Five wins in their last six secured a spot behind France in Group B as the challenges of Ireland and Greece were repelled in the autumn. Scotland’s qualification was the opposite for Steve Clarke, as a superb start was almost undone by no wins in their final three qualifiers, and they have won just one victory in their last four away matches.
Both teams to score
Despite their wider form issues, Scotland have still posed a threat in front of goal in their recent matches, with five scored in their last two games, and they have only failed to score once in their last six.
Romania v Northern Ireland
International friendly match at the National Arena, Bucharest
TV: Viaplay Online, 7:45pm
Romania to win
Romania will also be at Euro 2024 this summer following a superb unbeaten qualification campaign. They picked up six wins and four draws from ten matches to finish in front of second placed Switzerland in Group I. Victories over Belarus, Kosovo and the Swiss in Bucharest show what a force they have become against certain opposition and Michael O’Neill’s Northern Ireland have lost four in a row away from Belfast.
Spain v Colombia
International friendly match at the London Stadium, London
TV: Viaplay Sports Online, 8:30pm
Spain to win
As part of a new sponsorship agreement, Spain will play their friendly tie with Colombia at West Ham’s London Stadium, before hosting Brazil in Madrid next week. Luis de la Fuente eased La Roja to Euro 2024 as they eventually overpowered Scotland to claim top spot in Group A. Being the designated ‘home’ team makes little difference to Spain right now, with eight wins in a row under de la Fuente, including their UEFA Nations League success last summer.
Lamine Yamal to score
In classic Spain style, no one player took responsibility as the main goal threat, with Alvaro Morata and Joselu both netted four in qualification. However, as de la Fuente tinkers with his plans, the player to watch out for is Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal. The 16-year-old smashed the Spain all time appearance maker and scorer record on his debut in September’s 7-1 demolition of Georgia. The teenager has six goals in all competitions for Xavi’s Barcelona this season plus six shots on target in his last five club starts.
