Former Hearts of Oak supporters’ chief Aziz Haruna has revealed an intriguing story from one of the club’s past encounters with arch-rivals Asante Kotoko, involving a supposed “mallam.”
According to Aziz, the supporters did everything possible to prepare for victory, only to be misled by a spiritualist whose directions backfired.
“We did everything we were supposed to do, then we were told Kotoko had brought some ‘mallam’ to Accra,” he recalled.
“We went to see the mallam, who told us to buy groundnut and sprinkle it on a T-junction. We did all that, not knowing what he gave us to do was actually against Hearts of Oak.
“We were confident we’d beat Kotoko, but when the match started, all of us started sleeping at the stadium, I swear, including our drummers.”
The rivalry between Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will be renewed once again on November 9 at the Accra Sports Stadium in the Ghana Premier League.
Since 2020, the two sides have met five times at the venue in league action, with Hearts recording two wins, two draws, and one defeat.
Both teams head into Sunday’s clash unbeaten so far in the league.
