Former Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association and long-serving Chairman of Accra Great Olympics, Joseph Ade Coker has died.

While the exact cause of death has not been made public, close sources say he had been unwell for a brief period before his passing.

Coker, who passed away at the Bank Hospital in Accra on Saturday, May 31, was widely respected for his deep commitment to Ghanaian football.

Under his leadership, Accra Great Olympics witnessed renewed stability and a sharper focus on youth development and sporting integrity.

Beyond his club contributions, he played a significant role in national football governance during a key transitional period for the GFA.

He believed in the power of football to unify communities and was vocal in promoting the sport as a tool for social change and youth empowerment.

Coker’s impact also extended into national politics. A veteran member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), he served as Greater Accra Regional Chairman from 2009 and was re-elected twice, becoming one of the party’s most enduring regional figures.
