Former Asante Kotoko National Circles Council Chairman, Kwaku Amponsah, has disclosed the club’s aspiration to participate in the CAF Champions League in the upcoming season. This revelation comes ahead of their crucial Matchday 19 encounter against Bibiani Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium, slated for today.
Following a surprising defeat against Heart of Lions in their previous outing, the Porcupine Warriors are eager to secure their first victory in the second half of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League. Amponsah emphasized their commitment to winning the league title after being eliminated from the FA Cup, outlining their desire to compete in the prestigious CAF inter-club competition.
“Our target is to win the Premier League. We have had a meeting with the players, and we have made it clear to them to win the Premier League,” he conveyed in an interview with Kumasi-based Pure FM.
“With our elimination from the FA Cup, the only trophy left for us is the Premier League trophy. We will fight to win the Premier League because we want to play in Africa next season. After all, that is where we deserve to play,” he added.
The anticipated match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT.
