Fiorentina vs Cremonese – 14/08/2022

Cremonese to experience defeat on Serie A return

235

On Sunday evening, Fiorentina hosts newly promoted Cremonese at the Stadio Artemio Franchi as the visitors make their long-awaited return to Serie A.

Fiorentina

The Viola finished in seventh place in Serie A last season, claiming a place in the Europa Conference League in the process.

Vincenzo Italiano’s team may even have claimed a spot in the Europa League had it not been for some inconsistent form towards the end of the campaign. In fact, the team from Florence lost four of their final six games of the season.

The Viola have been active in the transfer market bringing in Brazilian attacking full-back Dodo from Shakhtar Donetsk and Serbian forward Luka Jovic from Real Madrid.

One big positive for Fiorentina towards the end of last season was their stellar home record, as the Viola has won five of their previous six league games at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. They also kept clean sheets in all five home wins.

Cremonese

The Grigiorossi will feature in Serie A this season for the first time since season 1995/96. Since their relegation, they have not just played in Serie B but also Serie C. The visitors claimed promotion by finishing second in the Serie B table last season.

Massimiliano Alvini’s team hung on to that promotion spot at the end of the campaign after an inconsistent finish to their season.

In fact, they ended their Serie B campaign with three wins and three defeats, winning automatic promotion by finishing just two points ahead of third place Pisa.

Their end-of-season away form was not great either, as Cremonese won just two of their final seven away matches in Serie B.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that Fiorentina will record a victory in a low-scoring encounter on Cremonese’s return to Serie A after over a quarter of a century away from the Italian top flight.
