The 2022/23 Nations League is fully under way and on Tuesday the 7th of June we have a meeting between Finland and Montenegro.

The match will take place at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium and the hosts begin the second round of fixtures in League B, Group 3 in third place on 1 point while the visitors are top of the group on 3 points.

Finland come into the game on the back of a 1-1 draw at home against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Finland opened the scoring from the penalty sport in injury time of the first half. Finland were on course to take maximum points but Bosnia had other ideas and scored the equaliser in the 93rd minute.

That result means Finland have failed to win any of their 4 most recent matches and they have won 2 of their last 8 fixtures in all competitions. The wins came over Kazakhstan and Bosnia away in 2022 World Cup qualifying.

Home form shows Finland have been struggling to win recent games and they have failed to pick up a victory in their last 5 attempts at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium.

In fact, Finland have won only 1 of their last 9 games on home soil. However, they are not easy to beat when playing at home in the Nations League and Finland have won 5 and drawn 1 of their 7 home Nations League fixtures, with under 2.5 goals scored in each of those 7 games.

Montenegro make the trip to the Helsinki Olympic Stadium having recorded a good 2-0 home win over Romania in the Nations League. They opened the scoring in the 66th minute and added a second goal to seal maximum points with 3 minutes remaining on the clock.

That was the second successive victory for Montenegro having previously beat Greece 1-0 at home in a friendly match. However, Montenegro have recorded only 3 wins from their 13 most recent games in all competitions.

Their away form shows just 1 win from their last 6 on the road and the victory came at Gibraltar.

In terms of the Nations League, Montenegro are undefeated in 6 of their last 7 games and in each of their last 3 on the road. Montenegro have seen under 2.5 goals in each of their 3 most recent away Nations League fixtures.

Team news and Finland are expected to start with Teemu Pukki up-front, with support from Robin Lod and Rasmus Schüller. Robert Taylor will hope to start having been on the bench against Bosnia.

Montenegro will be tempted to go with the same starting XI from the win over Romania. Drasko Božović and Aleksandar Šćekić could come into the team having featured off the bench last time out.

Considering recent home and away form of the two teams respectively in the Nations League, we expect to see few goals in this game.

With Finland and Montenegro also proving difficult to beat when playing home and away, this one could end level, with 0-0 a potential correct score.
