Ghana will have a strong officiating presence on the international stage in 2026 following FIFA’s confirmation of officials cleared for global assignments.
A total of 23 Ghanaian referees have been approved to handle international matches across different disciplines in the new calendar year.
The list is made up of 10 centre referees, 10 assistant referees, as well as one official each for futsal, beach soccer and Video Assistant Referee duties.
Highly respected referee Daniel Laryea headlines the contingent, earning dual recognition as a centre referee and a VAR official.
Assistant referee Richard Kwaku makes his debut on the international list, while Portia Oppong earns a historic nod in the beach soccer category.
All nominations were processed through the Ghana Football Association’s Referees Committee in line with FIFA’s annual requirements.
The selected officials successfully passed mandatory fitness, medical and technical assessments before being submitted for global approval.
FIFA conducted its own validation process, reserving the right to exclude any nominee who failed to meet the required standards.
Those approved will wear the prestigious FIFA badge from January to December 2026, with future selections dependent on performance and consistency.
