FC Nantes vs Stade Rennais – 26/02/2023

Rennes to boost European hopes against Nantes

3200

On Sunday afternoon, Nantes hosts Rennes at the Stade de la Beaujoire as the visitors look to enhance their chances of a top-six finish in Ligue One.

The home team are languishing in 13th place in the French top-flight table, nine points clear of the relegation zone in Ligue One. A 3-1 defeat to high-flying Lens last time out in the league ended a promising two-game winning run for the home side in Ligue One.

The game ended a run of low-scoring games for Nantes in the French top flight, as their previous four league matches had all produced under 2.5 goals.

Nantes’ recent home record in the French top flight is an underwhelming one, as they have won just three of their previous eight games on home soil.

On the flip side, Nantes have also only lost one of the eight home matches in that recent run.

The visitors currently occupy the last European spot in the French top flight but are now just two points clear of sixth-place Lille. Their recent form has been poor, as Bruno Genesio’s team has won just once in their previous five league outings.

Last time out, Rennes suffered a penalty kick defeat against Shakhtar Donetsk in the last 32 of the Europa League.

When it comes to Ligue One form, Nantes has been inconsistent, as they head into this game on a run of three wins and four defeats in their last seven games in the French top flight.

That recent run of poor results has not been helped by a woeful recent away record, as Rennes have lost their last four away games in Ligue One while conceding at least two goals in each of the losses.

What does Forebet predict?

Forebet predicts that Rennes will end their recent losing streak on their travels by recording a victory in a low-scoring encounter.
