Benfica will look to cruise into the Champions League when they travel to the MCH Arena this Tuesday night following on from a sensational first leg for the club and a magical opening game in the Primeira Liga.

Benfica have been ruthless in the past month of action, with them even defeating Fulham 5-1 in preseason and Girona 4-2, before finishing up their summer of action with a 3-2 win over the impressive Newcastle United.

They then kicked off their first competitive side of things with an excellent victory over Midtjylland on home soil at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa.

Goncalo Ramos was the man who stole the headlines with a hat-trick against the Norwegian side, with the 21-year-old managing to score after 16 minutes and grab another before the end of the first half.

The Portuguese also got a goal 30 minutes from time to give Benfica a 4-0 lead after Enzo Fernandez also netted in the first half.

Benfica had 74% of the ball that day in the first leg of the Champions League third round qualifying. What’s more, with a sensational 24 shots towards goal and 12 of these hitting the target, the Portuguese giants kept up the pressure throughout the entire and in truth, put Midtjylland to the sword quite comfortably.

Now, up against each other for the second time inside a week, Benfica have one foot in the Champions League already and better yet, can field a slightly weaker team if they please in order to save some legs for their game against Casa Pia back in Portugal.

On the domestic front in their first league game of the season this weekend, Benfica were once again absolutely ruthless and put in another sensational performance.

The club met with Arouca in the first game of the Primeira Liga campaign with Gilberto Moraes Junior scoring after eight minutes to give his side the lead. Rafa Silva stole the headlines with a fantastic display from him with two goals in the game, while Fernandez also scored another goal late on in the first half in the 4-0 demolition of Arouca.

Midtjylland are down in eighth in the Danish Superliga with them coming off the back of a 3-3 draw against Lyngby. They have now managed to score 10 goals and let in eight across the domestic season so far.

Forebet predicts a win for Benfica here and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
