The family of H.E. Emmanuel Kwadwo Adu has formally notified the Ghana Football Association of his death following a visit to the Secretariat on Tuesday, January 27.

Adu served as Vice-Chairman of the GFA between 1992 and 1994, playing a key role in the administration of Ghana football during that period.

He later became a major figure at Asante Kotoko, serving as Board Chairman and a principal sponsor from 1994 to 1996.

Beyond football, the late statesman held several high-profile diplomatic appointments on behalf of Ghana.

He represented the country as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland before a subsequent posting to Benin.

Adu also worked in the private sector as the West African representative of Scancem International and Chief Executive Officer of Judah (Alabado) Ltd.

He made a lasting impact on Ghana’s media space after establishing Channel R, the country’s first fully Christian broadcasting network.

The station, now known as 3FM, operated under his ownership from 1996 to 2015.

His contributions spanned sports, diplomacy, business, and broadcasting, earning him wide respect across sectors.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Akyem Abenase in the Eastern Region.
