Hearts of Oak will be announcing their newly constituted technical team to be headed by Tom Strand alongside the appointment of Yaw Preko and Nassam Yakubu as assistant coach and goalkeeper’s trainer respectively by Tuesday, GHANAsoccernet.com is reliably informed.
The Phobians have moved quickly to agree with personal terms with the Swedish trainer after getting the go-ahead from Medeama.
Hearts are however still in negotiations with Medeama over the amount to be paid to buy Strand out of his contract with the Tarkwa-based club.
Medeama are demanding a payment of $100,000 for the release of their coach who is currently back in his native country on holidays.
The Phobians are however confident of reaching an agreement with Medeama and have already gone ahead to agree on personal terms with Tom Strand who is likely to be announced as Hearts’ new substantive coach on Tuesday.
“Discussions, I would say is about 95% complete for Tom Strand to be named as our new coach on Tuesday,†a source at Hearts of Oak revealed to GHANAsoccernet.com.
“We did not conclude on the amount to be paid to Medeama when we met them on Friday but we are hopeful that we can conclude talks today [Monday] for us to announce Tom Strand as our new coach.â€
Tom Strand is wanted at Hearts following his impressive work with Medeama despite taking over the side within just a year.
He led the Yellow and Mauves to success in the MTN FA Cup, beating Asante Kotoko in the finals to clinch a spot in the next edition of the CAF Confederation Cup.
Hearts have also reached an agreement to appoint former Ghana international Yaw Preko and Nassam Yakubu as their new assistant coach and goalkeeper’s trainer respectively.
“That also is about 95% complete,†the source added.
Hearts are desperate to have a new technical team in place early this week for them to shift their focus on securing their transfer targets.
Their rivals Asante Kotoko have a head start on them after securing the services of Ghana goalkeeper Ernest Sowah last week and with reports of an imminent swoop for rising Heart of Lions talent Isaac Twum.
