Shaibu Tanko congratulates former club despite missing out on Premier league promotion

Former RTU head coach Shaibu Ibrahim Tanko has extended his congratulations to his former side for reaching the Division One playoff stage, despite their failure to secure promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking after the team’s defeat to Techiman Eleven Wonders, Tanko praised the technical team and players for their effort and progress this season.

“With all due respect to the coach, I will first congratulate him for getting this far with the club,” he said. “Rebuilding is an effort, and I will commend them for getting this far.”

RTU’s journey to the playoffs has been marked by steady improvement and a renewed push for top-flight football. Tanko, who now serves in a different capacity, urged the team to maintain their momentum going forward.

“My only hope is that they are able to maintain this momentum and qualify next time around,” he added.
