Exclusive: Ghanaian Bayan Mahmud joins Argentine giants Boca Juniors

Ghanaian youngster Bayan Mahmud has joined Argentine club Boca Juniors in an initial attempt to save his life, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 18-year-old arrived in the South American country 28-months ago as a stow away fleeing from the tribal war between Kusasi’s and Mamprusi’s which claimed the life of his parents.

The youngster somehow made his way to Accra, Ghana’s capital, got aboard a ship without knowing it’s destination and ended up in Buenos Aires.

He was spotted by a Boca official during a meaningless weekend game in nearby Plaza Garay.

The converted right-back was immediately snapped up by the Argentine giants after making his enormous talent obvious during the trial period.

He now becomes the first Ghanaian and only the third African to sign for Boca Juniors.

He follows ex Cameroonian international Alphonse Tchami who scored eleven times in just under 50 appearances for the Azul y Oro and more recently Gabonese striker Franck Engonga was snapped up after playing in the 2012 London Olympics.
