Former Hearts of Oak midfielder Bernard Don Bortey has cautioned Black Stars attacking midfielder Mohamed Kudus against complacency, labelling him as the face of the national team.
The 22-year-old had a difficult start to the season for limited playing time but has forced his way into the starting eleven of Ajax, scoring five goals in four matches including an emphatic finish against Liverpool in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
He attained those numbers featuring in a false nine role for the Dutch champions. Bortey hopes the youngster avoids being complacent and entreats football authorities to ensure that.
“Kudus Mohamed is currently the face of the Black stars and he is a great player. He can go far. He needs the guidance of our football leaders to avoid complacency.” Don Bortey said on Sunyani-based Union FM,
Kudus will join the Ghana contingency after this weekend’s game in the Eredivisie for France and subsequently Spain for the two friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.
