Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah to sign for a new club in January

Ex-Ghana captain Stephen Appiah claims he will return to active football next month after an 18-month absence.

Appiah has been without a club since ending a four-month spell with Serbian side FK Vojvodina in 2012.

But the 33-year-old says he is close to clinching a deal with an unnamed club.

”It is true I’m returning to the pitch in January, I have a couple of offers but I don’t want to disclose it here, I always want to put pen to paper before I say a word,’’ the former Juventus star told the Graphic Sports.

Appiah was close to signing for Iranian side Perspolis FC in November last year but the move collapsed at the last minute.
