Everton have completed the signing of Denmark midfielder Christian Nørgaard from Arsenal, with the club confirming the deal on Wednesday without revealing its financial details.
Nørgaard has signed a two-year contract with Everton, keeping him at the Liverpool club until the summer of 2028. English media reports have estimated the transfer fee at about £7m.
The 32-year-old defensive midfielder joins the Toffees after just one season with Arsenal. He made 20 appearances in all competitions during his only campaign with the Gunners, although he did not establish himself as a regular starter under manager Mikel Arteta.
Despite his limited starting opportunities, Nørgaard ended the season as part of the Arsenal squad that won the Premier League title.
Everton confirmed the transfer in a statement announcing the midfielder’s arrival, with the club also publishing footage of the completed signing.
Nørgaard moved to Arsenal in the summer of 2025 from Brentford in a deal worth an initial £10m, with the fee potentially rising to £15m through performance-related bonuses. He signed a two-year contract with Arsenal at the time, including an option for a further year.
His move to Everton brings an end to his brief spell in north London, while marking a return to a club where he is expected to take on an important midfield role. Nørgaard has been used primarily as a holding midfielder throughout his career and has also captained Denmark on several occasions.
He has won 41 international caps for Denmark and brings extensive Premier League experience from his time with Brentford.
Nørgaard made his name at Brentford, playing 196 matches for the club. He was part of the side that secured promotion to the Premier League, later becoming captain and one of the team’s most influential players.
His departure from Arsenal comes after one season in which he remained behind other midfield options in Arteta’s starting line-up. Everton have not disclosed whether the transfer includes additional clauses beyond the two-year agreement, while the reported £7m valuation remains based on media estimates rather than an official figure.
The move gives Everton an experienced Premier League midfielder with international pedigree and a record of leadership at club level. For Nørgaard, it represents the next stage of his career after helping Arsenal to the league title and completing only one campaign with the London club.
