FC Winterthur has secured the services of Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Essiam on a loan deal from FC Basel until summer 2027.
The 22-year-old, who is a Ghana U-23 international, brings versatility and dynamism to Winterthur’s central midfield, providing a long-term solution for the Swiss side.
Essiam is no stranger to Swiss football, having moved from the Ghana Premier League to Basel in early 2022, making over 40 appearances across the Swiss Super League, Challenge League, and Swiss Cup.
Essiam’s loan move comes after a period of injuries, which prompted a previous loan spell at Belgian second-division side Royal Francs Borains to regain match fitness.
The playee is expected to anchor Winterthur’s midfield, providing stability and creativity.
With his contract at Basel running until 2028, Essiam is set for a fresh start in Winterthur.
