Ghana international Ernest Nuamah is facing a significant spell on the sidelines after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture during Olympique Lyon’s Ligue 1 clash with Lille.
The injury occurred in the 5th minute following a collision with Lille defender Gabriel Gudmundsson. Nuamah was unable to continue and was replaced by Ryan Cherki.
Despite Lyon securing a 2-1 victory, the win was overshadowed by the serious nature of Nuamah’s injury.
According to reports, the youngster is expected to be out for 6 to 12 months, depending on the severity of the tear and how well he responds to treatment.
With this development, the Ghanaian international is set to miss the rest of the season and is unlikely to feature for the Black Stars in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September.
Nuamah has made 23 appearances for Lyon this season in Ligue 1, scoring 3 goals and providing one assist.
