England will go in search of their first win of the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League campaign when they host Hungary on Tuesday night.

The Three Lions find themselves bottom of Group A3 – two points behind second-place Hungary – having taken just two points from their opening three games.

Meanwhile, the Hungarians sit one point behind first-place Italy and one point ahead of third-place Germany after picking up four points from their first three games.

Earlier this month, the two sides met on Matchday 1 – with Hungary claiming a 1-0 win in Budapest. Who will come out on top this time around?

After losing to Hungary, Gareth Southgate’s side drew 1-1 with Germany before recording a goalless draw against Italy.

Following one defeat and two draws, England are enduring a three-game winless run for the first time in years.

Since the start of 2021, however, England have only lost one of their 19 games across all competitions – securing 12 wins and six draws along the way.

It is also worth noting that the Three Lions have scored 36 goals in 12 games since last summer’s European Championship, averaging three goals per game.

On the flip side, Hungary have claimed one win, one draw and one loss since the start of the 2022-23 UEFA Nations League campaign.

Following the victory over England, Hungary lost 2-1 to Italy before holding Germany to a 1-1 draw last time out.

The Hungarians have now lost just two of their previous eight games in all competitions, sealing four wins and two draws in the process.

They have also kept three clean sheets across their last seven outings, so they will fancy their chances of frustrating England once again.

Head-to-head: England were enjoying a 15-game unbeaten streak against Hungary before the two sides clashed in Budapest earlier this month.

The Three Lions have won 16 of the 25 meetings between the teams, while the Hungarians have beaten England on six occasions.

Team news: Jordan Pickford is expected to return in goal for England, while Harry Kane is likely to lead the line. Phil Foden remains absent due to COVID-19.

As for Hungary, they will be without suspended goalkeeper Peter Gulasci. However, Andras Schafer is set to return from a ban of his own.

Not only do England head into this clash in poor form, but they also suffered a defeat to Hungary in the reverse fixture.

With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Hungary will frustrate England once again. The Three Lions should be able to avoid defeat, but the Hungarians could come away with a point.
