Empoli FC vs Cremonese – 11/11/2022

Relegation Threatened Cremonese Travel to Empoli in Serie A

2115

The first fixture of the final weekend in Serie A prior to the World Cup takes place on the 11th of November as Empoli host Cremonese.

The game will take place at the Stadio Carlo Castellani and the hosts come into the match in 14th place on 14 points while the visitors have only 7 points to their name having both played 14 games.

Empoli had a tough fixture in midweek as they travelled to Napoli. They held the league leaders to a 0-0 draw at half time but Napoli opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 69th minute and added a second goal 2 minutes from time. Empoli had a man sent off in the 75th minute.

That result means Empoli have lost 3 of their last 4 matches, all of which have come in Serie A. There have been defeats away to Juventus and Napoli plus a 2-0 loss at home to Atalanta. The only victory in their last 4 games came at home against Sassuolo and was a 1-0 win.

Home form in Serie A shows Empoli have won 2 of their last 3 matches. They have found the back of the net once in 5 of their last 6 home league games but have conceded 2 or more goals in 3 of their last 5 home Serie A fixtures.

Cremonese make the trip to the Stadio Carlo Castellani on the back of a 0-0 draw at home against defending champions AC Milan on Tuesday night.

It was a good point for Cremonese who had 6 attempts at goal during the 90 minutes compared to 16 attempts from AC Milan, so it was good to keep a clean sheet.

Having held AC Milan to a draw, Cremonese are undefeated in their last 3 games, all of which have been in the league.

However, all 3 matches have ended in a draw, with Cremonese picking up a point in a 2-2 draw at Salernitana and at home in a 0-0 draw with Udinese.

Away form in Serie A shows Cremonese are undefeated in their last 4 matches but again, they have all been draws.

Cremonese have picked up a point at Atalanta, Lecce, Spezia, and Salernitana. Trends show both teams have scored in each of Cremonese’s 5 most recent away Serie A fixtures.

Team news and Empoli will be without the injured duo of Mattia Destro and Koni De Winter. Sebastiano Luperto is suspended following his red card on Tuesday.

Cremonese are expected to be without injured forward Cyriel Dessers. Romanian Goalkeeper Ionut Radu and defender Vlad Chiriches are doubts.

Cremonese’s recent away record suggest they could take something from this game but it is likely to be a point.

Both teams could find the back of the net but we do not expect it to be a high scoring affair. Therefore, a 1-1 final score is a good prediction for this match.
