GFA Elite Academy secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Upper West Region in the Elite U17 Girls Championship, while Brong Ahafo and Northern Region booked their places in the final.
The Elite Academy had dropped points in their opening matches but recovered to claim maximum points against Upper West. Adombila Romina scored the only goal of the game, giving the academy a much-needed win in the competition.
Eastern Region also recorded an important victory, defeating Ashanti Region to hand them their second loss of the championship. The match appeared to be heading towards a draw until Lukisia Ntoso struck with the last kick of the game to give Eastern a deserved win.
Central Region came from behind to beat Upper East Region 2-1, with Rosemond Twumwaa scoring twice to complete the turnaround. Ayambire Amanda had put Upper East on the scoresheet, but Central held on to secure the victory.
Brong Ahafo Region reached the final after a 1-0 win over Greater Accra. Mercy Akilvoa scored the decisive goal, ensuring Brong Ahafo maintained their unbeaten run in the championship.
Northern Region joined them in the final by defeating Volta Region 2-0. Salwa Sulemana scored in the first half before Ruhia Mohammed added a second after the break, confirming Northern’s place in the title decider.
The results set up a final between Brong Ahafo Region and Northern Region. The match will be played on Tuesday, 4 August 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
Brong Ahafo will go into the final with their unbeaten record intact after Mercy Akilvoa’s goal ended Greater Accra’s challenge. Northern, meanwhile, will take confidence from another disciplined display, having kept Volta Region scoreless while finding the net in both halves.
The final brings together two of the strongest-performing teams in the Elite U17 Girls Championship. Brong Ahafo’s consistency has carried them through to the decisive match, while Northern Region’s latest victory continued what has been an impressive run in the competition.
