Ghana left-back Ebenezer Annan has joined Romanian club FC Rapid 1923 from Saint-Etienne on a season-long loan for a fee of €150,000.
The 24-year-old’s move to the SuperLiga side was completed on 25 August 2026, with the loan running until 30 June 2027. Annan’s arrival comes after one season with Saint-Etienne, who signed him from Serbian champions Red Star Belgrade for €2m in August 2025.
Annan is a naturally left-footed defender and was born in Accra. He stands 1.78m tall and joins Rapid after making no appearances in Ligue 2 during the opening three possible games of the 2026-27 campaign.
His spell in Serbia was the most successful period of his senior career so far. Annan won the Serbian league title twice with Red Star, in the 2024-25 and 2025-26 seasons, and also lifted the Serbian Cup in 2024-25.
Before moving to Saint-Etienne, Annan had spent the 2024-25 season between Red Star and OFK Beograd. He initially joined OFK Beograd on loan from Red Star in July 2024, before returning to the Belgrade club at the end of that calendar year.
Red Star had signed Annan from Novi Pazar in July 2024 for €550,000. He had previously joined Novi Pazar from Bologna for €350,000 earlier that month, following a loan spell with the Serbian club during the 2023-24 season.
Annan’s move to Romania follows an earlier loan period at Novi Pazar while he was contracted to Bologna. He joined the Italian club’s first-team setup from Bologna Under-19 in July 2022 and subsequently spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Imolese.
The Ghanaian now joins an FC Rapid 1923 squad for the remainder of the 2026-27 season, with his temporary transfer formally ending on 30 June 2027. His move from Saint-Etienne to FC Rapid 1923 has been completed for a €150,000 loan fee.
