Dutch-born Ghanaian forward Memphis Depay is closing in on the Netherlands’ all-time top scorer record after scoring against Finland in the World Cup qualifiers on Saturday.
Depay’s goal took his tally to 48, just two behind legendary striker Robin van Persie, who holds the record with 50 goals.
The strike was Depay’s first in the World Cup qualifiers, and it marked a significant milestone in his career.
The match against Finland, however, ended 2-0 in favor of the Netherlands, with Denzel Dumfries scoring the second goal after 23 minutes.
