Chairman of Sekondi Eleven Wise FC, Dr. Spio Garbrah, has announced his decision to step down from his role, bringing an end to his three-year tenure at the club.

The respected Ghanaian businessman is relinquishing his position ahead of schedule to allow for the smooth commencement of the legal transfer of ownership and trusteeship of the club.

Sekondi Eleven Wise currently sit 10th in Division One League Zone Two, having accumulated 17 points from 15 matches this season. Despite the ongoing transition, the club’s immediate objective remains to retain its Division One status ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.

Explaining his decision, Dr. Spio Garbrah highlighted both sporting and logistical challenges facing the club.

“As you recall, my three-year tenure as legal trustee, owner and head of the management team of our great club—Sekondi Eleven Wise FC—was scheduled to end in May 2026, in less than four months,” he stated.

“In light of the continuing complex challenges facing the club, its precarious position on the league table, and the need for very focused on-the-ground attention and even more significant financial infusions, I have decided to step down as Chairman ahead of the end of my tenure and commence the process of legal transfer of ownership and trusteeship of the club to persons approved by Nana.”

Dr. Spio Garbrah further revealed that professional commitments abroad have made it increasingly difficult to give the club the attention it requires.

“Sadly, my professional work has me based in Asia for most of 2026, and the board of our investment company—having cumulatively invested over GHS 1 million since taking over in May 2023 without any profit—is increasingly stretched,” he added.

He expressed hope that beginning the transition now, rather than midway through next season, would allow key stakeholders to take decisive action.

“We hope that by starting the transition process now, Nana, the CEO, our local MPs, senior stakeholders and supporters will be able to freely choose and reorganise the management of the club to ensure Division One status is maintained into the 2026/27 season.”

Dr. Spio Garbrah’s early departure marks a significant turning point for Sekondi Eleven Wise FC as the club navigates both on-field challenges and an important change in leadership.
