Douglas Owusu named in Serbian Prva Liga team of the season after brilliant debut campaign

Ghanaian teenager Douglas Owusu has been named in the Serbian Prva Liga Team of the Season, capping off an outstanding debut year in European football.

The 19-year-old joined FK Radnik Surdulica from Ghanaian Division One side Asekem FC ahead of the 2024/25 season.

In his first year abroad, Owusu quickly established himself as one of the league’s standout performers, helping Radnik secure promotion to the Serbian Super Liga.

Operating primarily on the right wing, he made 29 appearances, scoring two goals and providing six assists. His creativity, sharp decision-making, and ability to unlock defenses made him a fan favorite in Surdulica.

Owusu featured multiple times in the Team of the Week and delivered crucial performances in the final rounds; particularly in games 33 and 34 as Radnik sealed promotion with a game to spare.

Being named in the Team of the Season is a major milestone for the youngster and a clear sign of his growing reputation. As he prepares for top-flight football in Serbia, Owusu is definitely one to watch.
