Ghanaian striker Dominic Oduro’s classy goal for Columbus Crew has been nominated for the Major Soccer League’s Goal of the Week prize.
The 27-year-old drew Crew on level terms with a fabulous 72nd minute strike against leaders Montreal Impact in the United States top-flight league on Sunday afternoon.
The Ghanaian sharpshooter’s aerial control in front of Hassoun Camara, was impeccable. The left-footed finish, in the top right corner, was spectacular.
Oduro who has scored thrice this season must beat competition from Real Salt Lake’s Olmes Garcia, Marco Di Vaio, Will Bruin of Houston Dynamo and Will Johnson of Portland Timbers.
The former Chicago Fire man expressed delight at his strike.
“It’s not everyday you score a goal like that,” he said.
Columbus Crew are fourth on the Eastern Conference table with nine points from six games.
