Member Of Parliament Of North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is calling on the Ghana Football Association to address fundamentals of the game before appointing a new trainer for the Black Stars.
The outspoken Politician’s comments come after Ghana’s disastrous campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations Ivory Coast which led to the dismissal of Chris Hughton as head coach.
The Black Stars managed only two points in the tournament, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde and attaining 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique which saw them booted out of the first round.
“We must really make sure the opacity is addressed so that the scarce resources we have we can ensure exactly what we are doing with that money in sports,” He said on Good morning Ghana.
“And that is where we must start from not about appointing a new coach, even if we bring coaches like Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool, the Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola even if you bring all of these outstanding coaches into this system into this structure, don’t expect any magic.”
Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a five committee to search for a new head coach for the Black Stars.
