Ghanaian midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh has suffered a significant blow in his recovery from a torn left cruciate ligament which requires additional surgery.
Kyereh left SC the team’s training camp to prepare for the procedure, which will determine the next steps in his recovery and rehabilitation.
This is the second time he has torn the cruciate ligament in his left knee.
The latest setback is likely to further delay his return, potentially extending his absence beyond this season.
As a result, Kyereh could be ruled out for the remainder of the season, with his return unlikely before the end of the calendar year.
The Black Stars attacker joined SC Freiburg in 2022 on a free transfer from St Pauli.
