Daniel Amartey has made a comeback to the Ghana national team as he joins the Black Stars squad for upcoming friendlies against Mexico and the United States of America.
Ghana is scheduled to face Mexico at the Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte on Saturday, October 14, followed by a match against the United States of America on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Coach Hughton’s intention is to use these two friendlies as part of the team’s preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers in November and the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
Amartey, who plays for Besiktas, was sidelined due to injury and missed both the Black Stars’ final AFCON qualifier against Central African Republic and a friendly against Liberia.
His return to the squad brings added depth and experience to the team’s defensive lineup.
