Daniel Afriyie was central to a dramatic night in the Swiss Challenge League as Aarau snatched a 2–1 win at Yverdon.
The Ghanaian midfielder stunned the home side almost instantly, striking in the 4th minute to give Aarau a flying start.
That early breakthrough allowed the visitors to dictate the tempo and sit deep with confidence.
Yverdon regrouped after the interval and eventually found an equaliser through Mauro Rodrigues in the 55th minute.
As pressure built, Aarau were forced into a stubborn defensive display.
The contest appeared to be drifting toward a draw until late chaos unfolded.
In the third minute of added time, Dorian Derbaci delivered the decisive blow to silence the stadium.
Afriyie’s goal further strengthens his growing influence within the Aarau setup this season.
He now boasts seven goals and four assists from 19 league appearances in the current campaign.
Aarau return home next to face Wil on Saturday, 7 February, with confidence firmly on their side.
