Dani Alves urges Lionel Messi to return to Barcelona

Dani Alves wants Lionel Messi to come to Camp Nou for one more ‘dance’ with him because he feels there is no better place for him to exercise his profession.

Messi has struggled to recover the form that established him as one of the sport’s best players since joining Paris Saint-Germain last summer, scoring only eight goals in all competitions thus far this season.

Alves, who played with Messi at Barcelona from 2008 to 2016, feels that Argentina’s captain should end his career in Spain.

“I don’t know what he thinks or wants to do. He could come back for a little year with me for a ‘last dance’. Why not? There’s nowhere better than here. We cannot be better off than at Barça. He left and tried the experience. It’s time to return home if he wants,” Alves said in an interview with Diario Sport.

There have been suggestions that Messi is dissatisfied with life at PSG and would like to return to Barcelona in the near future – but it is unlikely given that the Catalan giants are still struggling financially and would struggle to finance his exorbitant salaries.

Messi departed Barcelona this summer after 778 games, 672 goals, and leading the team to ten La Liga crowns and four Champions League titles, among other accolades.
