Former Ghana international Dan Owusu has suggested that the introduction of a strikers’ coach in the Black Stars team could help address the team’s goal-scoring difficulties.
In an interview with Koforidua-based Bryt FM, Owusu stated that the team lacks firepower upfront and that former strikers could be enlisted to help solve the problem.
He expressed regret that his earlier recommendation to employ a strikers’ coach had been ignored but felt that the time had come to consider it.
While he was willing to help, he felt he was too old for the position, but urged the national team to consider other former top strikers who could step in to support.
Owusu cited Europe as an example of where strikers’ coaches were employed, but lamented the absence of such a position in Ghana and other African countries.
He believed that former top strikers like himself, Willie Klutse, and George Alhassan could provide invaluable input to the national team, drawing on their personal experience.
He also suggested tapping into the ideas of Asamoah Gyan and other inactive players to help resolve the scoring problems.
