Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to marry his long-time fiancee, Georgina Rodriguez, in Madeira on Saturday, 8 August 2026, with the couple reportedly preparing a lavish celebration in the footballer’s birthplace.
According to British newspaper The Sun, the wedding reception is due to take place at the five-star Savoy Palace Hotel, while the ceremony is expected to be held at the cathedral in Funchal, the capital of Madeira.
The planned event would mark a new stage in the relationship between Ronaldo and Rodriguez, who have been together since meeting in 2016. Rodriguez is of Spanish-Argentinian descent.
An anonymous source told The Sun that guests had been informed that two floors of the hotel would be unavailable for private use on the Friday and Saturday surrounding the wedding. Several bars in the area were also reportedly booked for celebrations linked to the occasion.
“Guests at the hotel have been told two floors will be out of use on Friday and Saturday, as well as several bar areas,” the source said.
The reports suggest preparations are already under way for the event, although the details have not been publicly announced by Ronaldo or Rodriguez.
Ronaldo, the former Manchester United forward, currently plays in Saudi Arabia. He won the league title there during the 2025/2026 season.
The Portugal international proposed to Rodriguez in August 2025. The pair were recently seen wearing diamond rings while boarding a yacht in Majorca, prompting further attention around their plans to marry.
Ronaldo had previously said that the couple intended to get married after the World Cup. The proposed ceremony in Funchal would now fulfil that plan, with the reception scheduled to follow at the Savoy Palace Hotel.
