Black Stars assistant coach Mas-Ud Dramani has reiterated the stay of the country’s diaspora players beyond this year’s World Cup in Qatar.
The Ghana Football Association announced the allegiance switch of five players born abroad – Tariq Lamptey, Inaki Williams, Stephan Ambrosius, Patrick Pfeffer, and Ransford Yeboah.
Fans have tagged them as ‘opportunist’ for not participating in the qualifiers for the World Cup but rather switching nationality with few months to go for the world tournament.
“Sometimes we think that players who are switching nationality are only doing so because of the World Cup. That is not what it is,” Mas-Ud Dramani told Asempa FM.
“We see it beyond the World Cup. There are very young ones who are coming in now but they are for the future. We are not doing it just because want players to get to the World Cup.”
Ghana national team coach Otto Addo will name a 26-man squad for the World Cup in November.
