Hearts of Oak head coach Aboubakar Ouattara has expressed his disappointment in his players following their FA Cup round of 16 elimination against Golden Kicks FC, which ended in a penalty shootout defeat.
The Phobians struggled to break down the lower-tier side in regulation time, and their woes continued in the shootout, resulting in a shocking exit.
Speaking after the game, Ouattara admitted that his players lacked confidence but assured fans that he would work on boosting their morale ahead of the league campaign.
“We are thinking about the league. We played very badly against Golden Kick, and I’m very disappointed in the boys, I think the boys are losing confidence, but I will talk to them,” the Ivorian tactician said.
With the FA Cup campaign over, Hearts of Oak will now shift their focus to reviving their title challenge when the league resumes.
The Phobians sit 4th on the table with 33 points after 19 games.
