Ghana’s Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, has expressed concern over the Black Queens’ situation in the UAE amidst escalating Middle East tensions.
“Our problem now is the fact that the airports are even shut so you can’t evacuate anyone, you can only give them a safe place to be,” Adams stated on Citi Sports.
The team, participating in the Pink Ladies Cup, has been confined to their hotel due to airspace closures and flight cancellations.
Minister Adams assured the team is safe, with the government providing consular support. Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed the team’s safety, stating they’re receiving necessary assistance.
The Ghana Football Association has urged the public to remain calm, assuring efforts are underway to ensure the team’s safe return.
The team trained on Monday with hopes of facing Russia on Tuesday.
