CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has condemned the chaos that marred the AFCON 2025 final between Senegal and Morocco, stating that such incidents “shouldn’t happen again and will never happen again”.
The match was disrupted by controversy over a late penalty awarded to Morocco, leading to a walk-off by Senegalese players.
Motsepe described the incidents as “unacceptable” and had previously called for a review of CAF’s Disciplinary Code to ensure stricter sanctions for future violations.
He emphasized CAF’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and reputation of African football.
The CAF Disciplinary Committee has already handed down sanctions to both Morocco and Senegal, as well as players and officials involved.
Motsepe’s comments were passed at the Executive Council meeting at CAF amid growing concerns over refereeing decisions and crowd behavior at the tournament.
