The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is set to hold its Executive Committee meeting this Friday in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with major discussions expected around preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations and proposed regulatory reforms.
CAF President Patrice Motsepe will chair the high-level session, which will bring together Executive Committee members to deliberate on key organisational and operational matters affecting African football. A press conference is scheduled to follow the meeting at the Hyatt Regency Dar es Salaam, with proceedings to be broadcast live on CAF TV.
A significant portion of the agenda will focus on readiness for the 2027 AFCON, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. CAF officials are expected to assess progress on stadium upgrades, infrastructure development, and broader tournament management plans across the three East African nations.
Beyond tournament logistics, the committee will also review CAF’s disciplinary code and governance structures. The move follows widespread debate after the controversial 2025 AFCON final in Morocco, which sparked renewed calls for stricter enforcement measures to safeguard the integrity of the game.
President Motsepe has consistently stressed the need to improve officiating standards across the continent, with particular attention on referee performance and the effective use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology to ensure fairness and consistency.
The anticipated rule review forms part of CAF’s wider strategy to strengthen transparency, competitiveness, and the global standing of African football
