Ghanaian outfit Dreams FC have secured qualification to the semifinals of the CAF Confederations Cup after edging out Stade Malien on Sunday.

The Ghanaian FA Cup holders came from behind to play out a 1-1 draw against Stade Malien at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Despite the stalemate, Dreams FC have booked a place in the semifinals 3-2 on aggregate.

Before the reserve fixture in Kumasi, the Ghanaian outfit had secured an all-important victory over Stade Malien in Bamako.

Veteran striker John Antwi weaved his magic in the first leg tie, scoring a brace to propel his side to secure a crucial 2-1 away win last weekend.

The first half of the game ended in a pulsating goalless draw, as both teams struggled to find the back of the net in the crucial game.

But the second half produced two goals, with both sides scoring one each in the epic clash.

Stade Malien broke the deadlock through Yoro Diaby in the 59th minute before Sylvester Simba scored to restore parity in the 70th minute. With no additonal goal, the game ended 1-1.

Dreams become the first Ghanaian side to reach the semis of the CAF Confederation Cup, since Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko did so back in 2005, in the maiden edition of the competition.

The Dawu-based outfit reached the last eight after finishing top of Group B ahead of Nigeria’s Rivers United and Tunisian side Club Africain.

Having reached the semifinals, coach Karim Zito and his charges will this time aim for the ultimate at the end of the campaign.
