Boost for Ghana as Rwanda ditches Kenya in joint bid for 2017 AFCON

Ghana’s bid to host the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations has been given a boost following the decision of Rwanda not to go into a joint bid with Kenya.

Talks were ongoing between the two countries to come together to present a strong joint bid to convince CAF into awarding them the rights to host the 2017 AFCON.

The opportunity to host the tournament emerged following the decision of Libya to cede its rights due to civil unrest within.

Ghana had confirmed its intention to bid for the tournament and is in the process of forming a committee to lead this charge.

The West African country last hosted the competition in 2008 but are confident they can put in a solid bid to convince CAF into awarding it the hosting rights.
