Black Stars to train behind closed doors in Kumasi

Published: 2 years ago
Division one

The public is hereby informed that all training sessions of the Black Stars at the Baba Yara Sports stadium will be held behind closed doors during the period of camping in Kumasi. The senior national team will open camp in the Garden City on Tuesday, January 2, 2023 in readiness for the Africa Cup of Nations Cote D’Ivoire 2023.

The decision is necessitated by a request from the technical team for a quiet and serene camping atmosphere ahead of the competition. As a result, the team hotel will also be strictly inaccessible to the public and the media during the period of camping.

The media team of the Ghana Football Association will soon communicate date and time for a special engagement with head coach Chris Hughton and selected players before the team departs for the tournament in Abidjan.

Ghana is expected to play one friendly game at the Baba Yara Sports stadium as part of the build up to the tournament. The Black Stars are paired in Group B with giants Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
